15/01 :  NEW NINE DIAMONDS

The nine diamonds are a technique for prioristising that we were introduced to by Co-Active (an organisation that help businesses start up). We used it as a basis for workshops to start the MF Company. having had the course we have made a new set of nine diamonds. They came in two stages. The first set of 9 diamonds was about the qualities and principles of what we wanted to do and then the second was to give names to the tasks that lie ahead. We are now running 9 diamond workshops to meet these priorities and get things done.

27/11 :  UPDATEs

The ten-day course has now finished and you can view some of the discussions on the forum. It was great! We looked at the whole subject, notion and doing of Workshop in a very applied way. It was an intensive ten days with lots of laughs , a good deal of discussion, lovely grub, good company, much reading and writing (see articles for some), interesting observations and new insights. We all got the award of The Golden Fish at the end!

We are now working on putting together some real projects based around the material we worked on during the course - An event with and for teachers, more events for arts workers, an environmental feast, a museum, an everywhere centre and a dream allotment!

We have four working parties. One working on producing a book from our research on the course, another making contracts ( not yer usual run-of-the mill stuff!), one on evaluation (different too) and one on marketing.

We are aiming to have a new leaflet and logo out early in the New Year and to get some new copy that reflects the ensemble nature and actualities of the company onto the home pages of the website.

The 15 artists who did the course have all gone back into their own practices again but we will be holding events soon to bring people back together again. We are also running a disability project based in Plymouth that will lead to a performance in early April. After that we are running a Feast for artists in the West Midlands.

Please feel free to post news of your work up here. I have returned from many adventures in different settings. My favourite was the making of an Aboriginal Creation Myth with 100 chidren in Surrey and ten year old girl melted a hall of 300 with these words that she wrote and spoke:

The Rainbow Serpent said: ?Remember the laws. Try to break them and they will break you. Follow them and you will live happily and peacefully on Earth. These are the laws. Dream and respect. Your dreams are what made you so follow them and listen to them. Your dreams made the world, so respect the world because the world is made out of your dreams.?

A Golden Fish moment!
Happy fishing,
Tony

23/08 :  The First Moveable Course

The inaugral Moveable Course has received the royal seal of approval or, more importantly, the vital dosh from the Arts Council. So, we are up and running. There are fourteen artists who have places on the course (two more than we initially intended), which will run at various venues over ten days between September 12th and November 3rd. This will form a core team, with a common methodology but uncommon personalities, who can deliver a wide range of team-led workshops. (if you would like to know more I have posted a copy of the proposal under articles).

Our visit to the Blackdowns on September 6th to do collaborative and artistic things has been postponed. There are projects in the pipeline, including a West Midlands Moveable Feast for experienced practioners focussing on 'Play'. But now it is back to those learned tomes and scatty drawing boards to put this 'ere course together. May the grant be with you! Tony
